Skyline Drive Hiking Map

This loop hike traverses a portion of the historic cannonball trail through the ramapo mountains and ascends to several viewpoints, with broad vistas both east and west. Park on east side of the skyline drive, trail begins on the west side of the drive. The skyline drive runs 105 miles north and south along the crest of the blue ridge mountains in shenandoah national park and is the only public road through the park.

It contains trails for hiking and mountain biking and has 2 access points along skyline drive as well as one at dinosaur park. But when i try to map from luray to some trailheads, it wants to send me in a big loop around (down and then up skyline drive @1.5 hours. Each day i would drive a different section of the skyline drive, hike a few trails, and visit the destinations in the park.

Located in the mountains (literally), the highest point reaches an altitude of 3,680 feet, and leads to hiking trails that soar even higher. The trail crosses skyline drive numerous times in the park. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 2 min to complete. They are sorted geographically, starting in the north end of the park at front royal entrance station (mile 0) and moving towards the south end of the park at rockfish gap entrance station (mile 104.6).
